Film C5: Wind and tidal turbine CFD, wake, rotor thrust and reliable results
HELICIEL PRO CFD video tutorial, film C5
Two rotors modeled in the Heliciel designer by the blade element method (BEM), simulated in the Heliciel PRO CFD bench: a 4 m, 3-blade wind turbine at 166.8 rpm in a 5.5 m/s wind, and a 16 m, 2-blade tidal turbine in a 2.4 m/s tidal current. Flow lines slowed down by the rotor, pressure on the blades, wake in vertical and cross cuts, thrust on the wind turbine blades 4 % from BEM, torque flagged not reliable by the bench, and 454,000 N on the tidal turbine structure with the rotor really turning.
