Film C3: Aircraft propeller CFD, cruise vs static thrust at take-off
HELICIEL PRO CFD video tutorial, film C3
A 1.8-metre, 7-blade propeller, modeled in the Heliciel designer by the blade element method (BEM), simulated in the Heliciel PRO CFD bench at the same 1,000 rpm in its two lives: in a 56 m/s cruise and at static thrust with the brakes on. Flow lines, pressure on the blades, velocity cuts, traction compared with BEM (794 N in cruise, 820 N at static thrust in real rotation), blade passing frequency of 116.7 Hz.
